T.V Review - Doctor Who - The Day of The Doctor

50 years of history has led us to this point. So much hype, so much promotion and so much excitement.

Worth it?

Every. Single. Minute.

The 50th anniversary special gives us three doctors, Zygons, UNIT and Gallifrey. It’s a new lease of life for the show, specifically because *spoiler alert* Gallifrey comes back. So from this point on we know exactly what the Doctor will do.

There are moments that seem to only fulfil those old throwaway lines, like Elizabeth I in season three’s ‘The Shakespeare Code’ and moments that pander to older fans, like the ‘UNIT dating controversy’ but those are woven into a plot that is just pure Doctor Who.

Aliens wanting to take over Earth? Check.

The Doctor talking his way out of trouble? Check.

The companion being smarter than him? Check.

Honestly, you could have a list of everything the Doctor’s ever done and you could tick them off while watching this episode. It’s fun, it’s scary, it just works.

Here’s to another 50 years Doctor!
